On March 1, the Lake County YMCA celebrated the Association-wide Kickoff of its annual fundraising effort, the Strong Kids Campaign, which continues throughout the month of March into mid-April.ï¿1/2 The Campaign raises funds to provide membership assistance for children and families in need who otherwise couldnï¿1/2t afford to come to the Y.ï¿1/2 Gifts to the Strong Kids Campaign benefit all the branches of the Lake County YMCA: Central Branch in Painesville, West End Branch in Willoughby, East End Branch in Madison, the Outdoor Family Center in Perry and the Lake County YMCA Childcare Program.

at 933 Mentor Avenue in Painesville, will be hosting its 17th Annual Matthew J. Latona Memorial Racquetball Tournament on March 12-13.ï¿1/2 The tournament will consist of advanced, intermediate, beginners, masters (40+), seniors (50+), women, youth, doubles/mixed doubles divisions with matches set by luck of the draw.

All rounds in all divisions are single elimination with matches consisting of two games to 15 points and 11-point tie-breaker. AARA rules apply and WILSON Racquetballs are provided to players. Note: Players losing their prior match are required to officiate and score the next match.

Cost is $15 for a single entry, $30 per team, and an additional $5 if you sign up for more than one division. A Tournament T-shirt, food and beverages are provided to all participants.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Thursday, February 18ï¿1/2ï¿1/2ï¿1/2ï¿1/2 6:30 PM

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the most common cause of death in the United States. SCA is different from a heart attack, it is an electrical condition in which the heart stops abruptly and unexpectedly and no longer pumps blood. SCA does not discriminate again gender, race or age. Learn what causes SCA, what the warning symptoms and risk factors are, and prevention and treatment options. Families are encouraged to attend.
